52 : My Room

“Well then. Front, clear. Above, clear. Right side, clear. Left side, clear. Behind, clear. No issues with the runway. Target sighted.”
Standing on top of the wall of the 5th floor, I checked my surroundings and confirmed the destination of my flight.
My destination was several buildings away, an area that seemed like it was higher in curse concentration compared to its surroundings.
A dungeon located in the middle of a crumbling building.

“Hop, step, JUUUUMMPPP!”
I brazenly dashed across the top of the wall and sped up.
On the 3rd step, I leapt off of the building.
Leaving the『Tower of Mice』, which was now,『Damavand』.
The curse concentration around me starts to decrease.

“I CAAAN FLLLLYYY!”
“CHUUUUUU!”
However, the drop in curse concentration stopped mid-way and I wasn’t struck with curse concentration deficiency either.
I… was able to leave the dungeon.

“Fufufu, now, I wonder how far I can go with this.”
Still, even if I was able to go outside, my body was weakened from the lack of curse concentration and it also felt heavy because of my equipment, which I didn’t have enough levels for. I stirred my wings with all my might, but my altitude continued to lower gradually.
Despite that, the speed of the descent was slow enough that if I just properly fluttered my wings at the end, I wouldn’t be known as the fool that died even with levitation.
Soaring through the skies as the sun begins to set without being assailed by any enemies was indeed, a nice experience if I do say so myself.

“ーーーーーーーーーー!”
“Hm?”
“Chu?”
While thinking that, my ears picked up a cry coming from something.
Then, once I’d turned my attention in the direction of that sound…

“Eh?”
Before I even realized it, a giant bird was there and it was heading straight towards me.
Wait, hold on just a second please.
I was familiar with that appearance. It was the giant bird that had visited the 5th floor of the『Tower of Mice』previously.
Yet, why did it show up at this timing and why was it this close?
Didn’t I even confirm that there weren’t any signs of danger nearby just a few moments ago?

“ーーーーーーー!”
“Damn it…”
The bird was evidently positioning itself to eat me, blitzing with its mouth opened wide.
It’s too late to use『Taruwiveno』here.
With my current mobility, I couldn’t escape either.
Therefore, survival was impossible.
But the least I could do was bring back information with me and that’s why, I used my『Appraisal Loupe』on the giant bird.

“…”
Y a y.
N o m a t t e r h o w y o u l o o k a t i t , i t ‘ s c l e a r l y a r a i d b o s s.

“ーーーーー!”
With that said, I was completely swallowed whole and killed.

“That thing’s just impossible…”
“Chuaaaa…”
I was now in the safety area, curled up in a prostrating pose.

“Well, considering how it appeared so suddenly, was it perhaps something like a countermeasure against players who try to take the easy way out by flying through the skies?”
Whichever way you spin it, the Shadow Roc definitely wasn’t a monster that could be defeated currently.
Actually, maybe it’s possible if you stun-locked it, or if you co-operated with every player, or if you catch it by surprise and strike it’s head, but overall, I couldn’t do anything about it alone right now.
Based on how abruptly it showed up, it probably either had super speed, an ability that concealed its appearance, or it was able to blink. Though, for all I know, it could’ve possessed multiple abilities and not just one.
Rather, what’s with that 6 digit HP? Even Venomulard only reached 5 digits. If I relied on poison to defeat it, I wonder just how many stacks I’d need to pile on it…

“For now, I guess aerial travel should only be done if I could immediately get into a building.”
I picked myself up and checked how much time I had left today.
Although I don’t give off the impression of one, I’m still a college student.
If we take tomorrow into consideration, even with the login time that I have left, I should continue until I reach a good place and time to stop.
That said, I have around 3 hours left in game, I believe?

“Hmm, should I mess with some of the configurations?”
With how much time I had left, it’s probably a good idea to tamper with the dungeon a bit more.
And so, I summoned the dungeon management menu from the settings and expanded the safety area with a personal “my room.”
This “my room” was an exclusive space that could only be accessed by the owner through a new door that was planted in the safety area of the dungeon in their possession.

“Fumu. Well, it’s brand new after all.”
I opened the light wooden door and moved from the safety area to My Room.
The room was… around 12 tatami mats (20m2) in size with the walls, ceiling, and floor being covered by white, flat plates of ambiguous material.

“…”
Now, as for what I could do in this room… well, I could do a lot.
I could turn it into a warehouse by making inventory shelves with huge storage space instead of the limited capacity I had now.
If I place a sofa or bed and connect an external network to a T.V. or something, this room could serve as a one for comfort.
With things like a kiln or a loom, it would work as a some sort of room for production too.
By changing the state of the floor and ceiling or expanding horizontally, this place could be transformed into farmland, forest, or even a mine, allowing for gathering of materials.
If I wanted to, it’s possible I could put down some dummy targets or monsters that could automatically revive and use the room as a mock battlegrounds or something similar.
Though, that’s if I had the materials and energy for it.

“I mean, I knew that already though.”
That’s right, it’s all about materials and energy.
Since energy was fueled off of the surrounding curses, it’ll only take some time so it wasn’t much of a concern.
However, it goes without saying but resources like stone, lumber, and more were required. For furniture, I’d probably have to bring it in from somewhere else too.
Yep, and right now, I had no furniture I could haul in and no materials.

“Even if it’s possible… I’d rather not bust out my credit card for this.”
As a remedial measure, you could pay real money if you’re willing to settle for minimum facilities at a minimum level.
Only, management doesn’t want you to rely on spending money and they’re pretty adamant about it. They said that to make items that were better or equal to the paid items, you’d have to use the ones in-game and that the paid furniture fulfilled no other purposes.
Yeah, that’s not really what I’m going for either.
So you couldn’t do anything like buy a bed, dismantle it for materials or curse it.

“Well, for now, I’ll just bring in the dangling meat fern flower moss to let it propagate.”
“Chuu”
By the way, to expand the My Room without paying for it, it appears that a large amount of monster corpses were needed.
Upon seeing that, I thought about letting the rats commit mass suicide like lemmings but… I had a bad feeling about it so I refrained.
How should I put this. I had a hunch that if I did that, I’d just end up with unpleasing results.
After that, I embedded the dangling meat fern flower moss to the ceiling inside My Room and logged out.
